'Tis the Season
Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy. He who continually goes forth weeping, bearing seed for sowing, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.
Psalm 126: 5-6 NKJV
I don’t like to cry; in fact, during the Christmas season I often avoid any movie specials that contain a gut-wrenchingly sad plot lines like it was the plague. My family, for years have heard me when I say “life is sad enough; I don’t need to watch it for entertainment.”
However; tears are a part of life, and try as we might they do find their expression into everyone’s life from time to time including mine. The holidays bring with them many memories some good some not so good and It is not uncommon to experience tears of sadness, grief or sorrow among all of the holiday fluff and sparkle.
I love that God’s word is not silent about our tears. God is aware of every tear that falls and he is acquainted with our sorrow.
Psalms 56:8 says this: You have taken account of my wanderings; Put my tears in Your bottle are they not in Your book?
Not only is God aware of our tears, not one is wasted, they are so precious to our Heavenly Father that he keeps a count of each one and keeps them in a bottle.
We are also given a promise from Psalm 126:5 AMP telling us how those who sow in tears will reap with joyful singing, likening our tears to seed that is sown for planting.
Times of sorrow will come, tears will come, but so will singing with shouts of joy. Take comfort in knowing that God is numbering your tears and is there to wrap his loving arms around you to bring comfort, to heal and to restore. You are not alone. Weeping may last for a night but joy comes in the morning (Psalm 30:5). Times of refreshing will come, hold fast to His promise.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank you for your precious love and comfort. Thank you that when I have no words you understand my hearts cry and number my tears. Heal my hurting soul and bring back the joy. Cause my eyes to see your goodness in the land of the living. In Jesus Name, Amen.
