"Sing, O barren, You who have not borne! Break forth into singing, and cry aloud, You who have not labored with child! For more are the children of the desolate Than the children of the married woman," says the Lord. Isaiah 54:1
I am captivated by this scripture. The stark absurdity of a woman clearly helpless to do anything to change her situation told to “Break forth” into singing. This is NOT a natural response. This my friend is a supernatural, crazy praise. A praise that bursts out of the emptiness, a song hurled forth in the darkest hour with every ounce of voice left to bring the King, to exalt HIs majesty.
Life situations can pin us with our back against a wall. We can try and try to manipulate a situation to bring the expected response but to NO avail. This is part of our walk. This is part of the journey of this thing called life. Try as we might to plan ahead, avoid the pitfalls and outsmart the other guy there will come a time when there is nothing humanly possible to rescue us from our plight. Faced with that dilemma what will be your response? Because here in this detail lies the breakthrough that you so desperately seek.
The barren woman, held in a place of desolation with no joy of fruit on the horizon discovered an oasis just waiting for her when she, in obedience, broke the barrier of this natural sphere and came sounding through with song into the supernatural. Her praises enthroned the King of Kings who held the power to release miraculous provision on her behalf. Psalm 22:3 says this:
But You are Holy, enthroned in the praises of Your people.
When we sing praise to God, we are shining the spotlight on Him. We are choosing to look to Him and acknowledge His sovereign rule. When we enthrone Him with our words of adoration and song of praise, we are taking the power away from our “lost cause” and giving all the power to the one who holds all the power and provision therefore giving Him room to release the miraculous on our behalf.
So again, what will your response be to the barren places? Will you feel sorry for yourself and magnify your pain? Or will you magnify the King? Will you waste precious time blaming someone else, or will you accept God’s rule and turn your grumbling into praise? Will you concern yourself with the foolishness of praise or will you abandon your pride and take up uninhibited praise. Will you Sing forth?
Power to change your situation, either by the actual physical change or by our strength and peace to endure while under fire comes through the King. Will you enthrone Him today over your situation? Who or what will be exalted? The desolater or the Creator? Who reigns in your situation? Your mouth will tell the story. Let it be a testimony of God’s amazing grace. Sing.
Prayer: God I turn my face toward you today and choose to sing forth your praises. There is no one like you God. You sit enthroned over my situation. I give you Praise.
